Wöbbelin Concentration Camp Survivor Project
Seeking Survivors of Woebbelin Extermination Camp
On May 2, 1945, this Division liberated 3,500 survivors of the Wöbbelin concentration camp, a satellite of the Neuengamme extermination camp.
At the time, Mr. Linton served in the Military Government Section (G-5) of the Division. Among his functions were to provide food, medical assistance, and repatriation for camp survivors.
Nearly every year Mr. Linton went to Ludwigslust to visit the Wöbbelin concentration camp.
In May 2000 the city of Ludwigslust nominated him its first honorary citizen.
A few years ago, Mr. Linton began a project to collect information about victims from the Wöbbelin concentration camp. He has since passed away (view obituary), but now the Mahn- und Gedenkstätten Wöbbelin are continuing the project. If you are a victim from this camp, a relative, or know someone who was there, we would be grateful for your help.
